afib: Love in a Box

A handy bag that helps you meet new people. Just press a button, and a secret compartment opens, putting you in a situation where someone might come to your rescue. It’s like a fun way to make new connections on the go!

A device that goes underground and is activated by a button while you’re kissing your date to make the earth shake and create a kiss that rocks your world.
A heel that breaks at the right moment to fall into the arms of the now stranger but future beloved.
A spaghetti strand tied at the ends to form a long spaghetti for a dinner on a romantic date where each member of the couple eats from opposite ends until they meet in the middle for a perfect kiss.
The use of a serif typeface, Michega, imparts a classic and credible feel to the brand, seamlessly blending with a modern touch in character and ligature design.

The use of blue aligns with the brand’s desire for a practical, technical aesthetic, mirroring blueprints. This choice, echoing the DIY/manual vibe, aims to present love as attainable and uncomplicated, fostering a connection to the brand’s practical image.

The brand opts for a sans-serif font for titles & body text to emulate a DIY/manual style, conveying a practical and technical feel. This deliberate choice aims to redefine love as something achievable and straightforward, steering away from the emotional connotations associated with love.

This masterfully crafted accessory, designed for the modern-day damsel: just one subtle move, and the contents scatter, inviting chivalry that will blossom into more. It’s not just a purse; it is your ticket to orchestrating fate, inviting you to stumble gracefully into the arms of your dream partner.

The bag, being an object laden with feminine connotations, symbolizes a gendered trap, eliciting specific reactions from the male gender and thus critiquing gendered mental associations. Simultaneously, the product serves as a critique of capitalism by conveying the notion that ‘you can buy love,’ reducing the profound concept of love to a commodity.

A meticulously curated collection of ordinary and/or absurd objects, inspired by Duchamp’s ready-mades, Fluxus boxes, and romantic comedies. Infused with a crafted touch, the packaging pays meticulous attention to detail.

For tighter budgets, the brand introduces a DIY line. A series of 4 posts with practical tips for every stage of the perfect relationship. These 4 stages are based on the plotlines of romantic comedies, where typically only the infatuation stage is highlighted: The Meet-cute, The First Kiss, Relationship Building, and The Grand Romantic Gesture, all leading to the happily-ever-after ending.

The Meet-Cute Bag is a promotional video for this accessory. This video collage, made in collaboration with the MA Performance Screen  CSM student, Branca Peixoto, aims to showcase various applications of our product while depicting representations of women’s roles in popular culture in a satirical way.

Meticulously curated objects form a poignant representation of womanhood, intertwining feminine connotations and sexuality. Each item, carefully selected, carries a nuanced aesthetic that subtly alludes to the theme of love. These thoughtfully chosen objects serve as visual narratives, capturing the essence of female identity and the complex interplay between love and femininity.

These objects, in shades of red and pink, not only emphasize the stereotypical aspects of femininity but also delve into deeper connotations. These colors evoke the essence of the feminine stereotype, embracing both menstrual blood and the hues associated with love. The deliberate use of red and pink creates a visual narrative that explores the intricate interplay between societal expectations, feminine identity, and the multifaceted nature of love.
